Holders of MRCGP[INT] are now eligible to apply to work as Independent Licensed GPs in the UK through a Portfolio Pathway CEGPR (Certificate of Eligibility for GP Registration) application. This application requires demonstrating that your knowledge, skills, and experience are equivalent to the GP standards in the UK. Applicants can present evidence, such as case studies, quality improvement activities, and reflections on learning, to demonstrate 13 specific capabilities for general practice. There is no need to show participation in a structured training programme.

The Specialty Specific Guidance (SSG), available at this link [https://www.gmc-uk.org/-/media/documents/sat---ssg---general-practice---dc2298_pdf-48457725.pdf], explains how to present evidence to have your application accepted. Once accepted, candidates will be enrolled in the GP register of the GMC and receive a License to Practice. However, to work as a GP in the NHS, enrollment in the International Induction Program is required. This program is an intensive training for international GPs entering NHS UK practice and includes MCQ assessments, support, and mandatory learning. The duration ranges from 3 to 6 months for completion.

So to work in the UK as an independent GP with MRCGP INT, the summary steps are:

1-If from non-English Speaking country, you need to Pass an English test (IELTS or OET) before applying: https://www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/join-the-register/registration-applications/application-guides/full-registration-for-international-medical-graduates-with-a-postgraduate-qualification/your-knowledge-of-english

2-Create an online GMC account.

3-Apply to the Portfolio Pathway and fill out the application as specified in the Specialty Specific Guidance: https://www.gmc-uk.org/-/media/documents/sat---ssg---general-practice---dc2298_pdf-48457725.pdf

4-Once your application is accepted, you will be enlisted in the GP register of the GMC and gain a license to practice. And to work indpendantely as a GP in the NHS , you need to complete the International Induction Program, which takes 3 to 6 months and includes work-based assessments and MCQs.

Important clarification : the RCGP raised concerns regarding misunderstanding of my topic that I said the MRCGP INT qualifies to GP in UK without any other requirement

While I clearly stated the opposite

The MRCGP INT is a post graduate qualification in general practice with make you eligible to apply for license of GP but after fulfilling the evidence of competency required

Best wishes to all of you.
